ISLAMABAD (PEN) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has established a special bench to hear the appeals filed by the PTI founder in the Toshakhana and cipher cases.
Chief Justice Amer Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hassan will preside over the cases. The Registrar of the High Court has scheduled the hearing for PTI founder’s pleas on Monday.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s appeal against the cipher case has also been slated for a hearing on Monday, along with Bushra Bibi’s petition in the Toshakhana case.
The petitions filed by the PTI founder, Bushra Bibi, and Shah Mehmmod Qureshi seeking release on bail by suspending the indictment will also be addressed.
It may be recalled that a special court established under Official Secrets Act and an accountability court had sentenced the PTI founder and his wife Bushra BIbi in the cipher and Toshakhana cases on Jan 30 and 31, respectively.
Also, on January 30, the PTI founder’s close associate Shah Mehmood Qureshi were sentenced to 10-year rigorous imprisonment in the cipher case.
