ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Two personnel of the security forces have been martyred in a suicide attack on their convoy in Dera Ismail Khan.
As per Inter-Services Public Relations, a vehicle-borne suicide bomber exploded himself on a security forces’ convoy in Dera Ismail Khan District, martyring two personnel in the ensuing explosion. The martyred soldiers were identified as Naib Subedar Yasir Shakeel and Sepoy Tahir Naveed.
Shakeel, 38, and Naveed, 34, both belonged to Kohat district.
The military’s media wing claimed that those responsible for the cowardly attack would be brought to justice. The security forces remained determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism, and such sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthened their resolve, it added.
Just a day ago, a notorious terrorist was killed, and his two associates injured, as security forces conducted a successful operation in the Panjgur district of Balochistan based on intelligence.
The ISPR said that in an exchange of fire, a notorious terrorist named Chakar Liaquat was killed, and two of his associates sustained injuries.
During the operation, weapons and ammunition were seized from the possession of the slain terrorist. Liaquat was wanted for his involvement in various acts of terrorism.
The same day, army chief General Syed Asim Munir held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif where the two discussed a range of issues, including national security, military operations, and foreign relations.
The meeting, which took place in Islamabad, saw the chief of army staff brief the premier on various issues, particularly his recent visit to Saudi Arabia. Discussions also centred on the outcomes of ongoing intelligence-based operations against terrorism.
The meeting delved into the professional and operational matters of the Pakistan Army. Both leaders also exchanged views on the overall national and internal security situation of the country.
