LAHORE (PEN) : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam, to immediately travel to Kyrgyzstan following the mob violence in Bishkek.
Engineer Amir Muqam is scheduled to depart for Bishkek tonight to oversee the rescue efforts for Pakistani students in Kyrgyz Republic and to extend them support and assistance.
He will hold meetings with Pakistani students to address their concerns and ensure their well-being amidst the ongoing tense situation.
Meanwhile, prime minister directed the Pakistani embassy in Bishkek to ensure the best medical facilities for injured Pakistani students.
He also stressed that government officials should facilitate the immediate return of those students who wish to return to Pakistan while also covering the expenses.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the Pakistan’s embassy should provide every possible support for maintaining constant communication between students and their families.
Dozens of Pakistani students were wounded in mob violence around student hostels in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, on Friday night.
According to some media reports, a recent fight between Egyptian students and local Kyrgyz people has been wrongly blamed on Pakistani students, leading to violent attacks on their hostels in Bishkek.
The attackers forcibly entered the hostels, broke the doors of the rooms and tortured and injured several students.
