GWADAR (PEN) : In connection with the celebrations of the upcoming Eid al-Adh, the biggest Muslim festival, the meat of sacrificial animals has been distributed among local people of Gwadar by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad and the China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC) on June 8.
More than 20 goats have been sacrificially slaughtered, and their meat has been doled out to needy communities, offering a profound gesture of brotherhood and philanthropy. Around 393 less fortunate families received the meat in 2 kg packets.
Zahid Baloch, a destitute member of a fisher family, told Gwadar Pro, “Skyrocketing inflation has wreaked havoc on people’s already ramshackle financial condition, compelling them to stay away from celebrating Eid. Given the cash-strapped situation, the distribution of meat by the Chinese embassy and COPHC has won everybody’s heart.”
Sughra Bibi, another local, said, “The brotherly act of China means a lot to us.”
