ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Indian Supreme Court halted the release of the film “Hamare Baarah” following allegations of it being derogatory towards Muslims. The court directed the Bombay High Court to address the matter, stating that the film’s teaser was offensive. The petitioner argued that the movie violated constitutional provisions and sought to revoke its certification. Despite claims of objectionable scenes being removed, the Supreme Court upheld the stay, allowing the high court to assess the case’s merits. Earlier, the Karnataka government had also banned the film temporarily due to concerns about potential communal tensions.
