ISLAMABAD (PEN) : In a clarification regarding the newly launched operation “Azm-e-Istehkam”, the Prime Minister’s Office underscored on Monday its distinct objectives, urging the public and media to avoid drawing comparisons with previous military operations
The statement stated that the operation named “Azm-e-Istehkam” marks a strategic shift in Pakistan’s approach towards achieving sustainable peace and security.
It emphasises a multifaceted strategy that includes not only military operations but also political, diplomatic, legal, and informational efforts aimed at eradicating terrorism and extremism in the country.
“The purpose of ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ is to decisively eradicate the remnants of terrorists and their facilitation networks, ensuring a safe environment conducive to economic development,” stated a spokesperson from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Prime Minister’s Office further clarified that while previous operations like Zarb-e-Azb and Rah-e-Nijat were instrumental in eliminating terrorist strongholds, “Azm-e-Istehkam” represents a new phase focusing on sustained stability without necessitating large-scale military operations that could disrupt civilian life.
“This initiative is not merely a continuation of past operations but a holistic approach towards long-term security and prosperity,” stressed the spokesperson.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government in statement also called for a unified national effort and support for “Azm-e-Istehkam”.
