ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given the green light to a new tourist glass train project connecting Rawalpindi and Murree, aimed at boosting tourism in the area. The approval came during a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister in Murree, focusing on enhancing the charm of this popular hill station.
The government plans to engage international consultants to oversee the execution of the glass train project. Additionally, several other development and beautification initiatives for Murree were sanctioned in the meeting. This includes the removal of high-rise hotels along Mall Road in Rawalpindi that obstruct natural scenery, as well as the construction and expansion of the old Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir Road.
Furthermore, there’s a decision to clear hotels around GPO Chowk and restore historical buildings in the area. Murree, being a favored destination, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from all corners of Pakistan annually.
