ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, during his speech in the Lok Sabha, quoted a verse from the Quran emphasizing the message of non-violence and fearlessness. He cited Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to illustrate that the Quran advocates courage and fearlessness.
Gandhi criticized BJP leaders for allegedly promoting hatred, fear, and violence despite claiming to uphold Hindu values. His remarks sparked controversy, prompting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accuse Gandhi of implicating the entire Hindu community in acts of violence.
Modi demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi for his statement. In response, Gandhi clarified that his criticism was directed at BJP leaders and organizations like RSS, not the Hindu community as a whole. He reiterated his stance that BJP perpetuates fear and animosity rather than promoting peace and harmony.
