ISLAMABAD (PEN) : David Miller has responded to speculation about his retirement from T20 international cricket following South Africa’s defeat in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. Addressing the rumors on Instagram, Miller clarified that he has not retired and remains committed to representing South Africa in T20Is.
Miller stated, “Contrary to reports, I have not retired from T20 international cricket. I will continue to be available for the Proteas. The best is yet to come.”
South Africa suffered a heartbreaking loss to India in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, falling short by seven runs on June 29. Miller, known for his ability to finish games, was dismissed on the first ball of the final over when South Africa needed 16 runs from 6 deliveries. His dismissal came as he attempted to hit Hardik Pandya’s delivery but was caught on the boundary.
Reflecting on the defeat earlier, Miller had expressed deep disappointment, describing it as a “tough pill to swallow” in an emotional Instagram post. Despite the loss, he expressed pride in his team’s journey throughout the tournament, emphasizing their resilience and determination.
