ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Safe City Project in the city has commenced with the installation of poles at six key locations, as reported by ARY News. Senior officials, including Director General Safe City Asif Aijaz Shaikh and Project Director Brigadier Gul Hassan, visited the Aram Bagh area to oversee the ongoing work.
Poles for the Safe City Project have been erected at significant sites such as NED University, Aram Bagh, Haqqani Chowk, Pakistan Chowk, and adjacent to D.J. Science College. These poles are equipped with features including a pink button and other functionalities.
According to Director General Asif Aijaz Shaikh, cameras will be mounted on these poles within the next 20 days. The footage from these cameras will be transmitted to the command-and-control room of the Sindh Police, where it will be recorded and monitored.
Brigadier Gul Hassan, the project director, mentioned that a total of 1300 cameras will be installed across 300 poles as part of this initiative. Each pole will also include a push button for citizens to seek assistance in case of emergencies or incidents. The police have assured prompt response to any complaints received through these channels.
Overall, the Safe City Project aims to enhance surveillance and security measures in the city by leveraging advanced technology and real-time monitoring capabilities through the installation of these cameras and communication infrastructure.
