ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan Railways has announced a significant transition to a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for managing multiple train services. According to a spokesperson, several prominent trains including Karakoram Express, Karachi, Awam, Green Line, Mehr, Chenab, Saman Sarkar, Mohenjo Daro Passenger, Pak Business Express, Bolan Mail, Thal, Sukkur Express, Marvi, Chaman, and Hazara Express, alongside Shalimar, Bahauddin Zakariya, Kohat, Mehran, Attock, Jand, and Rawalpindi Passenger trains will now operate under this model.
Amir Ali Baloch, CEO of Pakistan Railways, expressed confidence that the PPP approach will bring about significant improvements in service quality. He highlighted upgrades such as enhanced dining car facilities, including premium dining options on Tezgam and Zakariya Express trains. Moreover, he mentioned the installation of executive washrooms at Lahore Railway Station, which have received positive reviews from passengers. He committed to extending similar facilities to all major stations across the country within the next three months.
