ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has called upon around 30 to 35 former international cricketers for consultations on Pakistan’s domestic cricket system. The meeting, scheduled for Monday, aims to gather feedback and suggestions from these cricketers to enhance and revamp the domestic cricket structure, making it more appealing and effective.
In addition to discussing improvements in the domestic setup, the cricketers will also be briefed on three new tournaments titled “Champions”. This initiative comes amidst significant criticism and scrutiny of the national team following their poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan’s team, known as the Men In Green, failed to advance past the Super Eight stage, suffering defeats to the United States and India which led to their early exit from the tournament.
The meeting follows a confidential assessment report submitted by white-ball coach Gary Kirsten to the PCB chairman. The report addresses various issues including player fitness, discipline, and game awareness, all identified as contributing factors to Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the World Cup.
