ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Turkish authorities have recently imposed restrictions on Instagram, causing access issues for users. The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) confirmed the action, though no specific reasons or details about the duration of the restrictions have been provided.
Users have reported trouble accessing Instagram on their mobile devices since the ban was put in place. This move follows criticism from Fahrettin Altun, a Turkish communications official, who accused Instagram of censoring messages related to the death of Ismail Haniyeh, a prominent Hamas figure.
Altun, who is the communications director for the Turkish presidency, took to X to express his frustration, noting that Instagram had not provided any clear policy breaches to justify the restriction.
