ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The number of Roshan Digital Accounts has now exceeded 700,000, according to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
In June 2024 alone, 10,168 new Roshan Digital Accounts were opened. Over the entire fiscal year 2024, the total number of new accounts reached 126,893, bringing the grand total to 712,778.
In terms of deposits, $20 million were added to Roshan Digital Accounts in June, with a total of $2 billion deposited throughout the fiscal year. Since the program began in September 2020 through to June 2024, a substantial $8.25 billion has been deposited into these accounts.
The data also shows that of the deposited amount, $52.1 million was used for local transactions, and $1.61 billion was withdrawn from the accounts.
Roshan Digital Accounts, launched by the central bank in collaboration with commercial banks in Pakistan, offer innovative banking solutions to Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) and Non-Resident Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders. This initiative aims to facilitate banking, payment, and investment activities for millions of Pakistanis living abroad.
