ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Pakistani Embassy recently hosted the Saudi premiere of Gunjal Entangled, a film that tells the poignant story of child labor activist Iqbal Masih. The screening took place at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh, where the cast and crew were warmly welcomed.
Director Shoaib Sultan shared his excitement with Arab News, noting that this was a historic first for Saudi Arabia. “It’s incredible to be here with the team and the audience for a screening like this,” he said. “The film is based on true events, celebrating the life of a true hero—Iqbal Masih, who spoke out about labor and human rights. This is a crucial topic that needs attention.”
Sultan expressed enthusiasm about the film’s debut in Saudi Arabia, describing it as a global film that has already been featured in numerous festivals. “We see Saudi Arabia as a burgeoning film market with many opportunities,” he added. “There’s a lot of excitement about potential collaborations, and we’re thrilled to share this important story here.”
