ISLAMABAD (PEN) : National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has expressed Pakistan’s strong commitment to deepening its relationship with Belarus, emphasizing the importance of enhanced parliamentary connections.
During a meeting with Igor Sergeyenko, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus in Minsk, Ayaz Sadiq highlighted that this visit represents a significant step forward in their bilateral relations. He conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the hospitality received and expressed enthusiasm for building on the robust foundation established over the past 30 years of diplomatic ties.
Sadiq stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary collaboration between the two nations, focusing on expanding their legal cooperation framework. He indicated that Pakistan is dedicated to revisiting and updating existing agreements to improve their effectiveness, with a promise that the Pakistani Parliament will actively work to facilitate closer interactions.
On the matter of bilateral support, Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s backing for Belarus on international platforms, including its aspirations to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He also pledged Pakistan’s readiness to support Belarus in joining other organizations where Pakistan holds membership, underscoring a belief that their partnership can be mutually advantageous.
In response, Igor Sergeyenko expressed deep gratitude for Pakistan’s steadfast support in international forums. He warmly welcomed the Pakistani parliamentary delegation, which includes Members of the National Assembly M. Aslam Ghumman, Syed Tariq Hussain, and Syed Hafeezuddin, viewing their visit as a significant milestone in further strengthening the ties between their countries.
