“Pakistani Ambassador to Iran, Muddasir Tipu, has shared that efforts are underway to repatriate the bodies of Pakistani pilgrims who tragically lost their lives in a bus accident in Yazd.
Ambassador Tipu expressed hope that a special plane will arrive in Iran this evening, allowing the bodies to be flown back to Pakistan by tonight. He noted that the Iranian government is fully supporting Pakistan in this endeavor and that efforts are being made to transport both the deceased and the injured back to Pakistan.
The accident, which occurred near the Taftan-Dehshir checkpoint, resulted in the deaths of at least 35 Pakistani pilgrims, with several others injured. The bus, carrying 53 passengers primarily from Larkana, Ghotki, and other cities in Sindh, overturned and caught fire.
Iranian state media reported that the bus accident happened on Tuesday night, and the crisis management director for Yazd province confirmed the loss of 11 women and 17 men. Seven of the injured are in critical condition, while six others have already been discharged from the hospital.
Ambassador Tipu’s remarks underline the urgent efforts being made to ensure the swift return of the victims and provide support to the affected families.
