The Met Office has issued a weather update on a low-pressure system that has formed near West Bengal. This system is expected to move towards the southern parts of the country by the night of August 25. As a result, we can anticipate strong monsoon currents and significant weather changes.
From the night of August 25 to August 29, various regions in Sindh—including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Dadu—along with parts of Balochistan like Khuzdar, Kalat, and Gwadar, are likely to experience rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms. Some areas may see scattered heavy downpours and even isolated very heavy falls.
The Met Office has warned that low-lying areas in Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab are at risk of pluvial flooding, which could disrupt daily life. Coastal flooding is also a concern along the Sindh-Makran coast, and fishermen are advised to stay away from the open sea from August 26 to 29 to ensure their safety.
Furthermore, the forecast includes the potential for flash flooding in local streams and hill torrents across various regions, including D.G. Khan and Dadu, from August 26 to 29. Communities in these areas should prepare for the possibility of sudden and intense rainfall, which could lead to hazardous conditions.
As the weather system approaches, it’s important for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and their property.
