ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Hamid Ali Khan, a renowned music maestro whose performances have captivated audiences both in Pakistan and around the world, recently reminisced about his early days in a podcast. He fondly recalled his visit to India as a child, where he performed alongside Asad Amanat Ali.
During their visit, they found themselves sharing a stage with Bollywood legends like Dilip Kumar and Manoj Kumar. Hamid Ali Khan recalled the initial skepticism from the audience, wondering why Pakistan had sent two young performers. However, their rendition of classic songs soon won everyone over, leaving the audience, including stars like Manoj Kumar, spellbound.
Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was so impressed that she affectionately dubbed them “Ram Lakhan” for their remarkable performance. Additionally, Indian politician and future Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was so taken with Hamid’s talent that he offered him the opportunity to move to India.
Despite the flattering offer, Hamid Ali Khan, who cherishes his roots deeply, remained committed to his homeland, emphasizing his unwavering love for Pakistan.
