ISLAMABAD (PEN) : In a rare occurrence, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder lauded Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent statement opposing any extension of government echelons.
Imran Khan also criticized the establishment for ‘betraying’ him over the September 8 rally.
‘Talks with Afghanistan’
“The situation in KP is bad; policemen are saving themselves,” he remarked, painting a grim picture of the law enforcement landscape in the province.
He strongly supported Ali Amin Gandapur’s peace negotiations with Afghanistan, stressing that Gandapur’s efforts are crucial in addressing the region’s challenges.
“They should go and hold Ali Amin’s feet, God forbid. Go and talk to Afghanistan,” he stated, criticizing the government’s inaction.
He made these remarks during an informal talk with journalists at Adiala Jail.
Former prime minister denounced the federal government’s handling of cross-border terrorism, warning, “If terrorism does not end, our economy will be destroyed.”
The PTI founder asserted that the responsibility for curbing terrorism lies with the federal authorities and questioned why Ali Amin Gandapur’s actions were being criticized. “Ali Amin is right,” he added.
Discussing the worsening security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the founder highlighted the struggles of the police force, suggesting that the issue has escalated to the point of rebellion.
