ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Sheikh Rashid, the chief of the Awami Muslim League and a former federal minister, has claimed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman emerged victorious in the initial round of the debate over the constitutional amendment draft.
In his statement, Sheikh Rashid criticized those who had previously championed the “Vote ko Izzat Do” slogan, suggesting that they have now undermined the very value of votes they once defended. He raised concerns about the transparency of the process, questioning how anyone could trust the outcome when no one has had access to a copy of the constitutional amendment draft.
Sheikh Rashid also lamented that democracy seems to be consistently undermined behind closed doors. Despite these challenges, he expressed hope that the ongoing political turmoil in the country will find a clear resolution by September 30
