ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has annulled the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision to replace Election Tribunal judge Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.
The ruling was delivered by Chief Justice Amir Farooq, who issued a reserved verdict in the case.
The court has sent the matter back to the Election Commission for reconsideration and ordered it to make a fresh decision.
The case was brought to the court after petitioners Shoaib Shaheen, Aamir Mughal, and Ali Bukhari challenged the Election Commission’s move to replace Justice Jahangiri.
The LHC ruling effectively nullifies the commission’s previous order, providing an opportunity for a new resolution on the tribunal appointment.
