ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Renowned Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, a former member of the ICC Elite Panel, has shared that he plans to step away from professional umpiring after this year. Although he officially retired from international umpiring in March 2023, he has continued to officiate at domestic and international league matches, showcasing his enduring passion for the game.
Currently, he’s involved in the Champions One Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. However, Aleem has hinted at a significant shift in focus—turning his attention to a thalassemia hospital, a cause close to his heart.
Aleem Dar made his mark in 2004 when he joined the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, amassing an impressive record of officiating in 448 international matches, including 145 Tests, 231 ODIs, and 72 T20s. His skill and dedication earned him the Best Umpire award three times in a row from 2009 to 2011, and he had the distinguished honor of umpiring at five ICC Cricket World Cups, seven T20 World Cups, and five ICC Champions Trophy tournaments.
Known for his fairness and precise decision-making, Aleem Dar has earned immense respect in the cricketing community. As he prepares for this new chapter, his contributions to the sport will be fondly remembered by players and fans alike.
