ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Malakand DIG and Swat DPO were relieved of their duties for failing to ensure the safety of a convoy carrying foreign diplomats that was attacked in Swat.
Government officials confirmed that DIG Muhammad Ali and DPO Zahidullah have been ordered to report to the Chief Police Officer (CPO).
In response to the incident, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has established a two-member committee to investigate the attack on the foreign diplomats. The KP Home Department has officially announced this committee formation.
The committee will include an additional IG and the special secretary of the Home Department. They are tasked with examining the incident from multiple perspectives and will submit a comprehensive report to the provincial government within a week.
It’s important to highlight that the attack occurred on September 22 in Malam Jabba, Swat. Tragically, one police officer lost his life, and three others were injured. Thankfully, all the foreign diplomats were unharmed during the attack, underscoring the importance of safeguarding those in vulnerable positions.
