ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Chinese Premier Li Qiang is visiting Pakistan from October 14-17, 2024, marking the first visit by a Chinese premier in 11 years. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation amidst changing geopolitics and challenges to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Several agreements are expected, including a $2 billion loan for the Karakoram Highway and the soft launch of the Gwadar International Airport. Li will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other leaders to discuss Pakistan-China relations, CPEC projects, and regional developments. Security for Chinese workers and potential agreements on hydropower, offshore oil, and trade are also on the agenda.
