LAHORE (PEN) : The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday barred the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from announcing final verdict on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intraparty election case.
The development came after the LHC issued written order on plea against the PTI intraparty election and deprivation of its iconic “bat” symbol in Feb 8 General Election.
A five-member larger bench headed by Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza issued the written order to the ECP.
The written order said that the ECP had requested adjournment of the case whereas it also asked the deputy attorney general to submit written statement in the next hearing.
It was further added in the written order that the ECP should not give final verdict on its April 30, 2024 notice on the PTI’s intraparty election case.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing till December 13.
