ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Punjab government has enforced Section 144 in Attock district, placing a strict ban on unauthorized mining activities for three months to protect vital mineral reserves and preserve the environment.
Home department specifically targets mining along the Indus River and covers all minerals, including valuable placer gold which contributes significantly to the national treasury.
Under the directive, unauthorized mining, as well as the transportation of mining or quarrying machinery along the Indus River, is strictly prohibited.
Punjab interior secretary confirmed that this initiative aims to curb illegal extraction activities that threaten the region’s mineral resources and environmental stability.
Punjab Home department has notified three-month implementation of Section 144.
