LAHORE (PEN) : Open BBQs in restaurants have become a major contributor to smog in Lahore, prompting the Environmental Protection Department to impose stricter regulations.
The department’s Director General, Imran Hamid, issued a notification mandating that proper chimneys and exhaust systems must be used for open BBQs.
Additionally, BBQ hoods must be equipped with filters, and a wet showering system should be installed to reduce smoke emissions in BBQ areas.
The new regulations will come into effect from November 20 and remain in place until January 31, 2025.
