ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The federal government has declared a public holiday on November 9 to honor the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Pakistan’s beloved national poet.
A notification from the Cabinet Division confirmed the holiday, and various events are planned nationwide to celebrate Iqbal Day, reflecting on his profound contributions to literature, philosophy, and the vision he set for Pakistan.
In line with the announcement, the State Bank of Pakistan has also declared a holiday for Saturday.
This year holds special significance as it marks the 147th birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal, a visionary whose poetry continues to inspire generations. Often referred to as the “Poet of the East,” Iqbal’s legacy lives on in the hearts of millions, reminding the nation of its ideals and aspirations.
