ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing actions by the BJP-led government, which they argue are aimed at stripping the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) of their political and religious identity. In a statement issued from Srinagar, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas emphasized that the people of Kashmir would never abandon their demand for the right to self-determination, despite ongoing attempts to suppress their voices and undermine their heritage.
The APHC particularly condemned the government’s efforts to settle non-Kashmiri Hindus in the region, describing this as a deliberate attempt to alter the demographic makeup of Jammu and Kashmir. They see these moves as part of a broader strategy to undermine the distinct identity of the Kashmiri people, and they vowed to resist any attempts to change the region’s historical, cultural, and religious landscape.
In the legislative assembly of IIOJK, the demand for the restoration of the region’s special status took center stage. Khurshid Ahmad Sheikh, a member of the Awami Ittehad Party, raised a banner calling for the revocation of Article 370, a gesture that brought attention back to the longstanding struggle for autonomy and the special status that was revoked by the Indian government in 2019.
Meanwhile, a report released by Kashmir Media Service sheds light on the continuing brutal crackdown by Indian authorities on the Kashmiri population. According to the report, the government has been employing a combination of military force and advanced surveillance technology to quell dissent and instill fear among the local population.
This state-sponsored repression has led to a daily reality of killings, arbitrary detentions, and the destruction of properties in the region. The report paints a grim picture of the human toll that these policies are taking on the Kashmiri people, with ordinary citizens caught in the crossfire of an ongoing conflict that seems to grow more intense with each passing day.
The situation in Jammu and Kashmir remains dire, with increasing concerns about the safety, freedom, and basic rights of its residents. Despite the constant pressure, the people of Kashmir continue to resist, driven by their unwavering belief in their right to self-determination and a future free from external domination.
