ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Dr. Ramez Alraee, the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic in Pakistan, announced the exciting news that the first direct flight between Pakistan and Syria will take off on Monday (today). The inaugural flight is scheduled to land in Lahore on Tuesday morning at 6:30 AM.
This marks a significant milestone, as Syrian Airlines has been operating flights from Karachi since 2019, but this will be the first time the airline is connecting Syria directly to Lahore. The launch of this new route is the result of tireless efforts by the foreign ministries and embassies of both countries.
The ambassador emphasized that the new direct flight service would play a vital role in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Syria. It is expected to foster closer economic and trade ties, as well as enhance people-to-people connections. Dr. Alraee noted that the flight would not only benefit the business communities of both countries but also provide a boost to tourism, especially religious tourism, with many Pakistanis traveling to Syria for religious pilgrimages (Ziyarat). The convenience of this direct flight would encourage more people to visit Syria, further promoting mutual cultural understanding.
The ambassador also stressed the importance of collaboration between the business sectors of both countries to deepen economic relations and expand trade opportunities. He highlighted that the direct flight would create a platform for future growth in these areas, helping to bring the two nations closer together.
Atif Ikram, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, along with other leaders from various chambers of commerce, warmly welcomed the new flight route. They called it a vital step toward enhancing trade and economic ties between Pakistan and Syria, recognizing the potential for mutual benefit as the two countries move forward in strengthening their partnership.
With the start of these direct flights, both nations are opening up new avenues for collaboration, connection, and cultural exchange—a step that holds the promise of bringing both people and businesses closer together.
