ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The documentary “From the Great Wall to Machu Picchu,” jointly produced by China and Peru, premiered in Lima, the capital of Peru, on Friday.
China Media Group (CMG), Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism and the National Institute of Radio and Television of Peru (IRTP) worked together on the program.
The documentary highlights exchanges between the two countries by zooming in on their cultural monuments, namely the Great Wall of China and the ancient Inca ruins of Machu Picchu.
During his speech at the launch ceremony, CMG President Shen Haixiong said that he believes the documentary will help people of the two countries better understand each other.

He cited the words in a signed article by Chinese President Xi Jinping published Thursday in the Peruvian newspaper El Peruano, saying that the friendship between the two countries “is rooted in the wisdom of our ancient civilizations” and “has become stronger through China-Peru win-win cooperation.”
The documentary will be aired starting Friday in seven languages: Chinese, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian and Quechua.
At the ceremony, China Global Television Network (CGTN), one of CMG’s three branches, also launched a special Quechuan page on social media, making Quechua CMG’s 81st language.
Quechua, the principal native language of the central Andes in South America, is widely used in countries including Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. It was made an official language in Peru in 1975.
