ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Pakistan cricket team is set to announce its squad for the upcoming tour of South Africa next week, with some key changes expected.
The tour will feature a mix of 3 ODIs, 3 T20s, and 2 Test matches, and the national selectors are likely to make a few adjustments to the current lineup. According to sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), opening batsman Fakhar Zaman is expected to return for the white-ball series, while young batter Saim Ayub is also in line for a spot in the T20 squad.
For the Test series, some of Pakistan’s top players, including captain Babar Azam, pacers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi, are likely to rejoin the squad, strengthening the team ahead of the challenge in South Africa.
The selection will also take into account performances from the recent tour of Australia, with players who stood out during that series given priority for the final squad. The squad for all formats is expected to be around 18 players.
The PCB plans to announce the final squad ahead of the series, which will give the players time to adjust to the conditions in South Africa before the tour kicks off on December 10. The tour will run until January 7, with high expectations from both the players and fans for a successful series.
