ISLAMABAD :Chinese and Pakistani experts discussed the potential for renewable energy collaboration during a seminar titled “Renewable Energy Collaboration under CPEC: A Diplomatic Discourse.”The seminar was organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the Pakistan-China Institute. Speakers emphasized that leveraging strong diplomatic ties with China could attract much-needed investment to expand affordable and clean energy access in Pakistan, especially as the country faces energy price hikes and challenges like electricity theft. Under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Pakistan aims to achieve 30% growth in its renewable energy sector by 2030, and experts urged the government to create a favorable policy environment for renewable energy promotion. They also highlighted challenges faced by Chinese investors in Pakistan and the need for green initiatives, energy conservation, and efficiency. Additionally, the potential for China to shift manufacturing to Pakistan was discussed as a mutually beneficial opportunity.
