ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The China-Pakistan Laboratory Twining Project on Brucellosis recently opened its second training workshop at China Institute of Veterinary Drug Control (CIVDC) in Beijing.
Under the World Organization for Animal Health project, a delegate from Pakistan visited CIVDC for the workshop.
As the first twining project undertaken by China’s Animal Brucellosis Reference Laboratory after it was recognized as WOAH reference laboratory, the Chinese side will leverage its technological advantages, share China’s experience, and provide robust technical support for Pakistan’s brucellosis prevention and control.
The purpose of this project is to ensure quality diagnosis and monitor the dynamics of the disease. In addition, the purpose is to suggest control strategies for brucellosis in the livestock population. This project will enhance the capacity and technical/scientific expertise of the laboratory staff.
During the first workshop titled “Technology of Serological Detection of Brucellosis,” Chinese technicians visited local dairy farms and goat farms in Pakistan to assess the prevalence of brucellosis, as well as the breeding and management practices of local pastures. They also helped the Pakistani team develop specific brucellosis prevention and control programs.
This time, both parties will gain a thorough understanding of the benefits of the hardware and software conditions at the reference laboratory. The Chinese side will provide technical support to the Pakistani side for the diagnosis and comprehensive prevention and control of brucellosis through mutual visits, exchanges, training, etc.
