ISLAMABAD (PEN ) : Pakistan received a welcome assurance this week as China vowed to assist the South Asian nation in navigating its foreign debt challenges.
According to Bloomberg, a recent speech by Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren highlighted China’s commitment to assisting Pakistan.
Shiren emphasized China’s longstanding partnership with Pakistan, stating they’ve never pressured repayment and recently extended a $2 billion loan to bolster Pakistan’s financial standing.
This echoes comments from the Chinese Ambassador who acknowledged Pakistan’s economic struggles and pledged China’s “all possible support” to help them overcome these hurdles.
Assuring Pakistan of China’s continued assistance, the ambassador stated that Beijing will provide all possible support to help Pakistan overcome its debt challenges and achieve financial stability.
He noted China’s support in enhancing Pakistan’s exports to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and China, highlighting recent approvals for the import of red chili and beef from Pakistan by China. Additionally, Zhao mentioned China’s provision of technology for hybrid rice production and corporate farming, encouraging Pakistan to address its trade deficit.
