ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Ali Sahin, a senior leader of Turkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party and Chairman of the Pak-Turkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group, expressed optimism about the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Development Roads project boosting bilateral trade between Pakistan and Turkiye during a meeting in Ankara. Emphasizing Pakistan’s significance, particularly among Muslim nations, Sahin stressed the importance of strengthening trade ties. Having lived in Karachi for higher education and fluent in Urdu, Sahin reminisced fondly about his time in Pakistan, noting the warmth of the people towards Turkiye. He highlighted the need to enhance economic and trade relations, suggesting collaborative efforts to address issues facing Muslim countries. Sahin also advocated for cultural exchanges, mentioning plans for a drama on Mahmud Ghaznavi and the possibility of airing Pakistani dramas on Turkish channels. He commended the role of the Pakistani embassy in Ankara and praised the efforts of the Turk Pakistan Women’s Forum in fostering closer ties between the two nations.
