ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Minister Ahsan Iqbal expressed the government’s strong commitment to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during a meeting with Chairman Zhang Jianghua in Beijing. He emphasized the importance of the Green Corridor initiative in the second phase of CPEC and highlighted how energy projects in phase one helped alleviate power outages in Pakistan. Ahsan Iqbal outlined the government’s intention to diversify the energy mix towards clean and renewable sources in the next phase, aiming for efficiency and affordability by reducing line losses and theft. Discussions with Chinese counterparts also focused on improving energy management systems and enhancing the safety of Chinese nationals involved in projects in Pakistan. Additionally, there were talks about expanding cooperation for energy projects like the Azad Pattan and Kohala Hydro Power Projects. Meetings with top Chinese power companies centered on addressing transmission losses in Pakistan through technological innovations and cost-effective solutions. These engagements are part of preparations for the next Joint Coordination Committee meeting and the upcoming Prime Minister’s visit to China.
