ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is addressing a session of the National Assembly, convened by President Arif Alvi to deliberate over the current economic situation of the country.
The premier is likely to discuss PTI’s Azadi March, which came to an abrupt halt this morning after PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced a six-day ultimatum for the government to share an election date. The PTI leader, while addressing his supporters in Islamabad this morning, warned the government that he will come back with a sea of people if his demand was not met.
Members of both houses of Parliament are attending the session.
“The Prime Minister will talk to the people of Pakistan through the most prestigious forum in the country. He has some very important things to say. Stay tuned,” the PML-N had said in a statement earlier today.
The session also comes at the heels of International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) refusal to revive the $6 billion loan programme for Pakistan unless fuel and energy subsidies are removed.
