ISLAMABAD : To shed light on the facts surrounding CPEC and Chinese involvement in Gwadar and Balochistan, the National Institute of Maritime Affairs hosted a webinar with the subject “DEVELOPMENT OF BALOCHISTAN UNDER CPEC.” Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, chairman of the Senate Defence Committee and Pakistan-China Institute, attended the event as the chief guest. Speaking at the event, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed noted that Balochistan has always been approached from a military-driven security-centric perspective, but because of CPEC, policymakers in Islamabad are now beginning to view the region from an economic lens. He highlighted that the prosperity of Balochistan and the CPEC both depend on Gwadar and it will connect South Asia with Central Asia, China, and the Middle East at the centre of regional connectivity.
