ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan plans to propose the establishment of a Joint Working Group on the security of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and prioritizes Main Line-1 (ML-1) in the upcoming Joint Coordination Committee meeting with China. They aim to increase joint working groups on CPEC from 5 to 11, focusing on security for Chinese workers and ML-1. Discussions include approval for ML-1’s re-modified PC-I and convening a meeting to consider its upgradation. Further discussions involve CPEC’s long-term phase (2025-2030) and projects like Kohala Power Project, Azad Pattan, Gwadar Power Plant, Karachi Circular Railway, and the re-alignment of Thakot-Raikot Section of KKH. Collaboration extends to energy, infrastructure, industry, food security, agriculture, transportation, and sports, aiming to deepen China-Pakistan relations and expedite CPEC implementation. Both sides reaffirm commitment to CPEC Phase-II’s success.
