Yuan Jianmin, Vice President of the Xinjiang People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries quotes Premier Zhou Enlai who once said that the Pakistan-China friendship took root at the dawn of history; which has rapidly shaped how people-to-people cultural exchanges between the two countries have taken place. He categorizes these relations under four stages; trade linkages under the Ancient Silk Road, the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan to the end of the Cold War, the Cold War and before the initiation of CPEC, and the initiation of CPEC. He writes that he himself has made over 200 trips to Pakistan and headed the delegation that carried out relief efforts in the aftermath of 8th October earth quake. He also highlights that under CPEC, total investment has reached $19 billion which has helped increase Pakistan’s GDP by 1-2 percent. He also claims that people-to-people cultural exchanges are an important way to boost CPEC.
