KARACHI: Out of 230 new high-speed passenger coaches, 46 have already been delivered to Pakistan Railways from China. By the end of this month, the new rail coaches would be hauled to Lahore on the Karachi-Lahore main line-1 from Karachi’s port. As part of a strategy to modernise and improve long-distance passenger services in the nation, Pakistan and China’s CRRC Tangshan Locomotive & Rolling Stock Company signed a deal in November 2021 for the sale of 230 high-speed coaches to Pakistan Railways. The PR spokesperson added that passenger rail coaches will have 20 luggage vans, 20 brake vans, and 80 cabins each for air-conditioned class and economy.
